Whenever bank robbery scenes occur in movies they are either one of two things.

A. They’re comical. Why are bank robbing scenes funny? I know that if someone comes into my local BBT Bank and they’re packing heat I’m sprawling out on the ground and throwing my designer wallet right at the closest con-man pin number inscribed on a post-it.

B. Utterly unrealistic. In The Dark Knight; masked clowns transcend upon the bank from various wires while systematically killing eachother off one by one, until even the poor bus driver meets the same fate. Meanwhile the joker escapes unnoticed in an empty bus filled with money. Even in crime thriller Heat Deniro’s crew takes ages to get the money as they waste shots blindfiring into the air.

 What I would do (in a movie).

If I were a bank robber my first priority would be to escape and second would be the money. Five million dollars is worthless if you get caught walking out of the door you should have stayed humble and rolled out with two.

I’m pretty sure that I read in a Maxim sometime that you have anywhere from 2 to 3 minutes before police arrive granted the teller trips the silent alarm the moment you walk in the door.

 Taking these factors into account the first thing would be to come in the front door and immediately proceed to violently shoot someone in the face. I think that some sort of shotgun would probably work best for effect. Two things go into consideration for this the first being that if you’re going to do it you’ve gotta do it right and second if anyone was going to try and play hero in the heist they sure as hell are going to sit down now.

As an opening scene to a movie it would be incredible because the last thing people are expecting is something that intense and graphic from the beginning. As long as the actors weren’t still in grade school (See man in SAW I attemping to convey cutting his leg off for example) I think this would be a great introduction. Let me know what you think
